Protein Scones
Ingredients

225 gspelt flour

1 heaping tspbaking powder

1 pinchsalt

30 gWhey Protein Vanilla

40 gmargarine
-
150 mlbuttermilk

1egg, beaten

optional, as toppingsugar-free strawberry jam, quark (fromage frais)
Preparation

Preheat the oven to 200° C.

Put all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, Whey Protein) into a bowl and stir well.

Add the margarine. Briefly knead with your hands, just until the mixture starts to stick together as a crumbly mass.

Add the buttermilk and stir with a spoon or spatula to make a smooth dough.

Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Form it into a large ball. Roll into a 3-cm-thick mass. Use a circle cutter or a glass to cut out circles. Keep gathering the dough back together and re-rolling it until you have 6 scones.

Put the scones onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the top of each scone with egg. Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Set the protein scones aside to cool. When it’s teatime, cut open and top with quark (fromage frais) and jam.
