Protein Scones

Anyone care for some tea? Then a plate of scones with jam is simply a must. These baked goodies will sweeten your plate without any added sugar: we’ve used sweetness from our Whey Protein. Pinkies up!

Ingredients

6 Persons

  • 225 g
    spelt flour
  • 1 heaping tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 30 g
    Whey Protein Vanilla
  • 40 g
    margarine
  • 150 ml
    buttermilk
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • optional, as topping
    sugar-free strawberry jam, quark (fromage frais)

Preparation

    Preheat the oven to 200° C.

    Put all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, Whey Protein) into a bowl and stir well.

    Add the margarine. Briefly knead with your hands, just until the mixture starts to stick together as a crumbly mass.

    Add the buttermilk and stir with a spoon or spatula to make a smooth dough.

    Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Form it into a large ball. Roll into a 3-cm-thick mass. Use a circle cutter or a glass to cut out circles. Keep gathering the dough back together and re-rolling it until you have 6 scones.

    Put the scones onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the top of each scone with egg. Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

    Set the protein scones aside to cool. When it’s teatime, cut open and top with quark (fromage frais) and jam.
